artists and politicians

In certain examples, artists and politicians can be at the completely different poles. The most striking example is that of the Communist party. the Communist artists are all about analyzing the quality of life of the people they are trying to help and figuring out what the party can do to further educate and improve the lives of these people. They approach educating and improving the people through their art. Politicians of the Communist party, on the other hand, influence people on reforming societal values to be more in accordance with their beliefs. They do not focus on analyzing life structure for the best interest of the people. The Communist politicians are more likely to throw you out of the party if you so much has speak the fact that there are other plausible forms of government. Politicians and artists are on completely different poles on how to sway the masses. However, a distinction must be made in that they are usually striving towards the same goal.

Eli-

You and I had the same thought about artists and politicians being on different poles, but we used different examples. I like how you used the Communist party to show how politicians go for one thing and artists go for another. It worked well to show this phenomenon so close to Wright’s life; that two groups that he liked (politicians to make things better for blacks and artists because he was a writer) had similar views but were so far apart. I don’t completely agree with the idea that those two groups have the same goals in mind. Politicians are more concerned with shuffling everybody into groups and labeling them, while artists are more interested in individuals and seeing how they develop their ideas. This makes them appear at opposite poles, but for supporting different reasons. Anyways, I liked your post.

I agree with you with how artists and politicians can stand on opposite poles and especially when it pertains to the Communist party. I also used this example in my blog. The artists and politicians had similar beliefs, but in a way they were different. The Communist artists think deeply about topics and try to explain them. The artists are trying to figure out ways to help the people in their party.

On the other hand, the politicians do not really want the people to be educated and informed by the artists. They think that the people who are "intellectuals" are dangerous to their party because they have independent thoughts. The politicians do not care to analyze the members of their party or to care about their beliefs. They just try to put people into groups instead of worrying about the individuals like the artists do.
